Cashew Fruit and Feni tour (1st March to 15th May)

NV Ecofarm, one destination that offers wide range of nature, agriculture and adventure activities are pleased to offer a unique experience of Cashew fruit harvesting, juice extraction, Feni distillation, tasting and cashew nut processing.

NV Ecofarm apart from spice and other agricultural plantation, has a well-established Cashew orchard spread over more than 100,000 square meters. Farm has traditional as well as modern methods of cashew harvesting, feni distillation and Nut processing at farm

The tour will be conducted from 1st march to 15th May which is the cashew season. Once the frcashew apples ripen and fall to the ground, it is picked up. The nut is removed from the cashew apple. The apples are crushed. Traditionally it was crushed using feet but now we use an electric crusher. The cashew juice is collected and stored in barrels for four days for natural bacterial fermentation. The remaining crushed fruits are tied together usinh vines or rope and a huge stone is kept over it. The juice that trickles slowly is collected and drunk as Niro. The fermented cashew juice is distilled to form urrak. the second distillation with cashew juice and urrak will give the feni. see all this process at NV Ecofarm.
